Each Gordano Textile artist has a distinctive style using a wide range of techniques showing the diversity of contemporary stitched textiles. These include hand and machine embroidery, paper making, weaving, felt making, painting, printing and dyeing of fabrics and artists’ books. The finished works range from intensively stitched pieces to large wall hangings and three-dimensional items. These could be figurative or abstract, displaying strong design and skilful workmanship.
Monthly meetings provide a forum for discussing individual work, in a supportive environment. Through this process each artist gradually builds up a collection of work for the next exhibition.
The group exhibits annually, and has acquired a reputation for consistently high standards. The diversity of techniques has inspired many of their visitors to take up work in textiles.
